Home education social sessions for parents and kids of all ages.
August 2025, a lovely month weather wise, and a great time was had by all.
It’s been wonderful to host the Home Ed community of adults and children each week. We were approached some time ago about hosting social sessions for home educators and their children of all ages. We have the space and the facilities to enable groups to spend time in amongst the herd, and it's been really rewarding to welcome families to meet each other for a social session each week. Please do get in touch if you would like to take part.
All humans and animals are happy and healthy.
Louis dog is our 13 year old shar pei x greyhound. His mother was found straying in Ireland, heavily pregnant with Louis and his 11 siblings. Louis was born in a foster home in Wales and has been by my side since he was 5 months old. He has been struggling for the past couple of months due to his advancing years, and his sight and hearing were much diminished. Thankfully he is now much more settled with his new dementia identity, as long as he gets prime place on the sofa and on the bed with his herd humans he is happy and a lot more relaxed.
Winter coats are growing in all round, with the Shetlands all starting to turn into little teddy bears again. Regular donations of enrichment items and windfall apples have been gratefully received; as have your money donations in preparation for the upcoming change in the seasons.
We are especially grateful for all of your votes in the Local Pet Awards NI. We had the awards dinner on Saturday night, and we enjoyed meeting so many other animal advocates and animal professionals. We didn't win this year, but we have our finalists certificates to proudly display. Roll on next year.
Exciting news coming soon now that we have our own Shenanigan Shetlands transport trailer. We are in the process of developing outreach visits to take a couple of the ponies, and possibly Miska the dog, out to meet those who can't come to us. Watch this space.
